This is a recurring report (updated weekly) on the number of people going to emergency departments (ED) each day. It includes the number of ED attendances for all disease types for comparison. It has been useful in highlighting the major reduction in attendances for cardiac disease and myocardial ischaema.

UPDATED - COVID-19 Rapid Guideline: Critical Care in Adults
The purpose of this guideline is to maximise the safety of patients who need critical care during the COVID-19 pandemic, while protecting staff from infection. It will also enable services to make the best use of NHS resources. On 31 March 2020, NICE amended the recommendations and algorithm to clarify when and how to use the Clinical Frailty Scale as part of a holistic assessment.

ARTICLE: Application of Machine Learning to X-Ray and CT images in the diagnosis of COVID-19
Chest CT scans and X-ray images have been reported to have sensitivity values of 98 and 69%, respectively, with regards to diagnosing SARS-CoV-2 pneumonitis.
In this review by Mohammad-Rahimi et al, 105 studies reporting on machine and deep learning methods on CT and X-ray images in COVID-19 were analysed and compared. The accuracy of these methods ranged from 76% to more than 99%, suggesting the applicability of machine and deep learning methods in the clinical diagnosis of COVID-19; albeit with the requirement for multidisciplinary approaches in cases of clinical uncertainty.

Reduced admissions with acute coronary syndromes on an unprecedented scale, were reported by a very distinguished group of authors this week in the Lancet. This national data collection exercise demonstrated a 23% reduction in STEMI and a 42% reduction in NSTEMI.
